2014 CHICAGO TURKISH FESTIVAL VOLUNTEERS

Dear Volunteers:
The 12th Annual Chicago Turkish Festival start with an outdoor Opening Gala in the evening of Thursday September 4, and continue through Friday September 5 and Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Pioneer Court at 401 N. Michigan Avenue, between the Tribune Tower and the Chicago River. The event is considered to be one of the most popular and successful ethnic festivals in Chicago and we are looking forward to an even better festival this year. As always we owe much of this success to contribution and efforts of our volunteers. This year we are aiming to organize a larger volunteer force and shorten the shifts so the volunteers will have time to truly enjoy the events. As you will see below we have broken each day into two 6 hour shifts. We have also attached a detailed spreadsheet for the specific duties. We hope this will be helpful in offering a choice where volunteers will feel most comfortable. Please be specific in the times you want to volunteer so we will be able to tell where we will need more help.

The Festival set-up will start Thursday morning, September 4th at 7am, and will end around 5:00PM to get the plaza ready for the Opening Gala Event at 7:00PM. The regular festival will run from 10:00AM to 9:00PM both on Friday (September 5th) and Saturday (September 6th). Take-down is on the evening of Saturday, 6th. after the Festival closes.

The Festival volunteer shifts start at 10:00AM and end at 9:00PM on 5th and 6th. Both half-day shifts (10:00AM – 3:30PM or 3:30PM – 9:00PM) and full-day shift is (10AM – 9PM) are available for festival volunteers depending on their schedules. Please let us know which shifts fit best to your schedule and whether if you could also help us anytime during the set-up between 7:00AM-5:00PM on Thursday, Sept 4th. and during take-down after 9 PM on Saturday, Sept. 6th.

The Festival Committee will provide full and half-day shift volunteers with a festival t-shirt, lunch or dinner ticket depending on the shift (both lunch & dinner ticket for full-day shifts) and transportation compensation for bus/train fare (provided that a valid bus/train ticket is presented).
